Short-Haired Dogs And Coats/Sweaters

on

hispring1The above picture is of Dexter, a very handsome boxer mix, that used to stay with us often.  Since Spring is taking its time to arrive, make sure that your canine companion is properly attired when you go out with him.  Dogs that have short hair like Dexter need to wear a coat or sweater or both to keep them warm.

hispring2Dogs that are very lean, like my Alex, also need to wear a coat when the weather is cold.  In Alex’s case, I make her wear both a sweater and a coat.  She is not too crazy about it, but I need to make sure that she is warm.

Dogs look adorable in sweaters, that’s for sure, but remember that for many dogs like short-haired dogs, and lean dogs, wearing a coat or sweater is a necessity.

I’ve never worn a sweater (too hot here) but it sure makes a dog appear well groomed and dignified.

I am boxer/greyhound mix I need a jacket in below zero my hair growths thicker and I run to be warm I love to run run run even in hot weather

  3. When it’s really cold, I put a lined jacket on Sam as well and he’s got loads of fur. I figure that if I need a coat, he does too. 😉

Agreed. A good warm sweater is a must have during cold winters.

  5. I so agree with you, Easy needs a sweater too when it is really cold outside. I often hear “such a big dog needs a sweater?” YES :o)

Big dogs and little dogs with short hair need a sweater for sure:-)
