Have A Great Monday! Really?

This is how Abby and Charlie helped me do chores today.

As you could see from the above picture, my canine kids certainly know how to start the week. Monday was never my favorite day, but now I am starting to learn to appreciate every day. Yes, even Monday.

Charlie, “What in God’s green earth is that light? Moms!”

I had to post the above picture. Charlie seemed to be fascinated by that candle. A minute later he moved away from it. The novelty wore off fast. Anyway, enjoy your week and stay safe!

Belated Happy New Year 2022

Charlie and Abbie “helping” mom cook our New Year’s meal.

Happy New Year! Sorry for the delay. Let’s give you a run down of what we did this past holiday. We ate a lot-as expected-both humans and canines; we slept and took naps; we did walk, and added playtime for Abby and Charlie in order to stay consistent and active; and-wait for it-we realized that we’ve given too much freedom to Charlie so after the holidays-meaning now-Charlie and Abby-will be doing some needed behavior and training. Anyway, that’s a post for another day.

Abby, “mom, what kind of guard dog sleeps on the job? Could you tell me again what did we get him for?”

Charlie-more than Abby-certainly took it to heart when we said nap time. Regardless of what you did, I hope that you enjoyed your holiday and your family. What did you do this past holiday? Stay safe and bundle up!

Merry Belated Christmas 2021

Abby, “Mom, I think Charlie has fleas. Look I found one!”

How was your Christmas? I hope it was amazing and full of food, joy and family. We stayed home, slept a bit late, ate a lot, and relaxed. I can’t complain. Abby and Charlie-that’s another story-probably would have wanted more food, but other than that they seemed content hanging out with us. Stay safe and belated Merry Christmas!

A New Bed For Abby And Charlie

Abby to Charlie, “Could you move over a bit? You’re appropriating Our bed!”

We got a new bed for Abby and Charlie a few weeks ago-at this point you’re probably saying to yourself, “That’s so nice of you”-because we got tired of moving their two beds from the kitchen to the living room. By now you’ve realized that such action was self-serving. Anyway, Abby and Charlie are still working out the logistics of sharing one bed, but they both seem to like it. How many beds does your canine companion have at home?

Do Dogs Need Sweaters And Blankets In Winter?

Abby, “Mom, please keep up with me, ok?”

Yes, dogs need sweaters and blankets once the weather starts turning cold specially if your dog has short hair, she is a puppy or senior, and also if she is recuperating from injury/illness.

Abby and Charlie both wear a sweater and sometimes jacket when we go out, they both have short hair, and a sweater or t-shirt when they are indoors. By the way, and this may just be me, but I like to touch their ears. If their ears are cold, then they are cold.

Sweaters and jackets for dogs, if you are looking for quality items, tend to be a bit expensive, but I’ve learned from trial and error that they are worth it. Blankets, on the other hand, I get them from a thrift shop. They have inexpensive, beautiful thick blankets in all sizes and colors.

Take a walk with your canine companion, weather permitting, but remember to bundle up and do the same for your canine companions. Enjoy your weekend.

Abby Paying Her Bills In Person

Abby, “Mom, do I really have to pay my bills on time?”

Abby was pretty surprised when I told her that she needed to go in person and pay her water/sewage/garbage bill.  As you can see, she was so bothered by it that she was giving me the cold shoulder.  What a brat!  I wanted to be mad at her, but she looked so cute wearing that sweater that all I did was smile.

Abby, “Ok mom, let’s go home. I dropped off the check.”

And so Abby paid her utility bill, posed for this picture, and we headed back home.  Abby goes every where I am able to take her.  That’s the only way your canine companion can get used to different noises, people, cars, etc.  What places are you able to take your dog to?

Short-Haired Dogs And Coats/Sweaters

hispring1The above picture is of Dexter, a very handsome boxer mix, that used to stay with us often.  Since Spring is taking its time to arrive, make sure that your canine companion is properly attired when you go out with him.  Dogs that have short hair like Dexter need to wear a coat or sweater or both to keep them warm.

hispring2Dogs that are very lean, like my Alex, also need to wear a coat when the weather is cold.  In Alex’s case, I make her wear both a sweater and a coat.  She is not too crazy about it, but I need to make sure that she is warm.

Dogs look adorable in sweaters, that’s for sure, but remember that for many dogs like short-haired dogs, and lean dogs, wearing a coat or sweater is a necessity.
