Abby + Backpack = Good Girl

Abby is 2 1/2 years old and what I’ve found out is that she does well when she wears a backpack because it gives her a job to do, carrying things, while she exercises, and as a result she seems to be more relaxed.  The first time I saw her with a backpack I couldn’t stop smiling.  I think she looks adorable.  Then again, I am biased since I am her mom.

Since she is part Beagle, she gets to use her nose for a bit although I think something got her attention in the above picture.

I’ve never had a dog like Abby.  What do I mean by that?  She is the first canine kid that needs a lot of structure in order to be a balanced dog.  But you know what?  She is certainly keeping me on my toes and teaching me a lot about dogs.  Like I said many times, dog are great teachers.  What is your dog teaching you?

my dog taught me how to be more careful especially during the night, when he continuously barks when there’s somebody around the perimeter of the house, just stopping without any reason. Dogs are a good security, good companion and a good rescuer when you’re in pain or in trouble. They create noises to alert people that something is happening. Love it when they want to play with you.

You are right. They are able to see, hear and smell things that we certainly are not able to do. Dogs have so many roles in our lives, and yes, on top of that you when play with them and put a smile on our faces.

  2. I agree to have a job while walking is a very good thing… sadly Phenny likes such a job just for 2 minutes and I have to carry his stuff… ;o)

Lol. I used to “carry” Abby’s things, but because my girl is hyperactive I found out that making her wear a backpack calms her down a lot.

  3. Nope. you’re not biased, she is adorable. I tried a backpack with my last OES and while it was good for him in terms of a job, it also built up his muscles big time and it would have been easy for him to drag me after a squirrel which he was most fond of chasing. Luckily he enjoyed pleasing me more than turning me into a human kite. 😉

Thanks re not been biased:-) Yes, they do develop a lot of muscle. I took Abby to the vet and she weighs 32.5lbs. Months ago, before I started to make hear wear a backpack she weighed 38lbs. and the vet said that it’d be a good idea for her to lose a bit of weight. She did, thanks to all that walking with a backpack. Lol re human kite.

My five month old Border Collie pup is teaching me patience. And how much I have a hard time being patient, haha! She also taught me to close the bathroom door when I take a shower, otherwise she jumps in and gets all wet, silly goose. XD

    1. Marcela says:

Yes, dogs are the best teachers you’ll ever find. Patience is one thing most of us, humans, don’t seem to have much of, but it is essential when dealing with dogs. Showering with mom? Well, look at it this way, you don’t have to bathe him:-)

Haha yes, it was quite funny. I couldn’t help but laugh at her jumping around and biting the water like a little nut.

Dogs do amazing and funny things:-)
