We woke up to a pretty cold morning, 30 degrees, today in Annapolis, MD and I started to ponder about all the things we do to keep our girls nice and warm and I decided to share this with you in hope that maybe I could get some more ideas from you.
Keeping Abby and Zoe warm by:
- Electric blanket – we only use it when we are with them, never when they are by themselves. Safety first, right? It has worked wonders for Abby, our 10 year old Beagle mix. She seems to be less stiff when she gets up from her bed. Zoe also likes it, but prefers only a small piece of the blanket.
- Sweaters and jackets – both to be used when we go out for a walk. Yes, they also wear a sweater when we are indoors.
- Blankets – they have small and medium blankets. It depends on how cold the day will be.
- Kennel and blanket – we cover their crates at nighttime so they sleep through the night without a problem because they are nice and toasty.
We are approaching winter and we need to be sure that our pets are nice and warm, right? If you have any ideas, input, or suggestions about how to keep our dogs warm, please let me know. Have a great week and bundle up when you go for a walk.

Love these suggestions! I especially like the one about covering the kennel. In rescue, we do that to give them a sense of security and to limit sensory distractions. But I never thought to do it to trap warmth inside the kennel. Great idea!! Thank you!!
Your welcome! I didn’t know about limiting sensory distractions. Thanks for sharing.
