Vanna, Anxiety And Update

Vanna in the arms of Morpheus

Vanna has been with us for a little over 3 weeks and she’s doing great. Her anxiety-licking her lips, pacing back and forth, and tucked tail-is diminishing as time goes by. Here are some of the things I do with Vanna:

  • Exercise- she walks twice a day and plays with Charlie 2-3 times a week.
  • Mental Stimulation- she is working on some training cues, and she’s also learning how to shake her cute paw.
  • Consistency- extremely important for dogs that exhibit anxiety. Vanna already knows our routine such as the time for walks, the door we use to go out, her place in our car, etc.
  • Body language, energy, tone of voice, and intention- We are an open book to our dogs so I am very aware of how I am feeling when I am about to work with Vanna or any other dog.

Vanna is an amazing little dog and she is progressing beautifully but let’s remember that this takes time and patience. If you are looking for a small, cute, energetic doggie, that’s Vanna!

If you are interested in meeting Vanna, fill out an application with the Baltimore Animal Rescue and Care Shelter, BARCS, and follow their instructions. Vanna’s ID is 50527282. Let’s find Vanna her forever home!
