Alex, my 12 1/2 year old canine companion, is a senior and I’ve realized that comfortable bedding for dogs should be high on a pet parent’s list, but much more so if your dog happens to be a senior dog. Alex loves to be close to a vent, as you can see in the above picture.
Alex’s favorite bed is the one shown above. Yes, that is a heating pad. I paid a little over $100 for that bed, but I can tell you with 100% certainty that it was worth it. She loves it and it is pretty thick, which is great. Now that is cold Alex has a comfortable bed, a sweater she wears indoors, and a heating pad to keep her warm and help her with her mobility since she has an ACL injury. Have a great week.
These are comfortable beds for senior dogs. Do old dogs really need them?
Yes, dogs need their own bed, but specially our senior dogs. Just like us humans, dogs as they age, they start changing and they get more sensitive to cold and hot weather. Yes, senior dogs truly need a comfortable bed.
My senior companion, Bandit, loves to lay on a “double” bed. He has a small round bed that he can curl up in and feel safe. I put that on top of a foam mattress and he thinks it’s the best napping place ever created. And of course, he has a fleece blanket to add extra warmth!
I love the empathy you show in this post!
Dogs, for many pet parents like ourselves, happen to be family, therefore they need our care, love, respect, and protection.
A good dog bed is worth every Penny. I blew through a couple cheap ones before I found a great foam bed. For senior pups, large breeds, and any arthritic dogs, a good bed is extra important.
Me too! I have a few beds that I bought thinking that I got a good deal because they were cheap. But as time went by, I realized that a good comfortable bed is more expensive, but worth every penny. What can I say Will? We, pet parents, are certainly flawed, but,we learn, right?
