11 Things about me:

When I came to the US, my vocabulary consisted of a couple of words, and I promised myself that one day I’d be able to read, write and speak English and never again need someone to translate for me.

Dogs have taught me so many things, and thanks to them I’d venture to say that I am a better person and I like me a lot more than I did years ago.  Alex, my canine companion, is my constant reminder that I have to try and be a better person each and every day even though I fall flat on my face so many times.

Rudeness, violence, and foul language are the biggest turn off for me.

I hate to cook with a passion that transcends words, but I’d cook for Alex.

I graduated with an MBA from University of Maryland University College and graduation day was bittersweet for me.  Yes, I accomplished my goal, but I was missing my aunt Maria so much that day.  She passed away January 2007.

I enjoy and love my girlfriend’s cooking, and I am grateful that most of the books and magazines she takes out of the library are about cooking.

My taste in music is eclectic for I love the music of: Elvis Presley, Guns N Roses, Shakira, Jose Jose, Rocio Durcal, Kenny Rogers, Juanes, George Michael, etc.

I have a hard time remembering the name of a pet parent, but I can easily recall the name of his/her dog.

I enjoy reading anything about dogs, finance, and real estate.

My definition of a good time, for the last couple of years, is staying at home watching a movie while Alex is sound asleep.

I am grateful for being fortunate enough to live in the US.

These are the questions from Shoeful of drool:

  1. Would you rather be beautiful or smart?  I’d rather be smart.
  1. Where is your favorite place to be besides home?  Anywhere as long as I have Cynthia, my girlfriend, and Alex, our dog, with me.
  2. Briefly, what is your biggest pet peeve with humanity?  Rudeness.  Being courteous can go a long way.

  1. Congratulations – great answers ;o) I agree with Hillary Clinton ;o)

  2. Will and Eko says:

Whoa, English isn’t your first language?? I had no idea – you are way more articulate than I am! Thanks so much for passing the award along – our blog isn’t set up tech-wise to accept awards but it means a lot coming from a fellow pet-blogger. Thanks!

    1. Marcela says:

Lol. Yes, English is not my native language. My mother tongue is Spanish. I came to the US when I was 14 and boy, everything was new to me. I had what you might called, culture shock, but as time went by, I learned to love this country and be appreciative of the many opportunities it offers:) Your welcome. I love, love your blog. You and Eko put a big smile always on my face:) keep it up:)

  3. Also, I didn’t mind at all answering your questions!

    1. Marcela says:

Really? I am so glad. I was thinking that all my nominees would get together and put me in their persona non grata list:)

  4. Since I’ve already been nominated and posted those answers on my blog, I’ll just answers Marcela’s questions here.

Who do you admire most and why? Tough one. Anyone who has kicked cancer’s ass, because it’s an awful disease and has plagued my family. My mom has been cancer free golly, for close to 15 years. Several friends also remain cancer free at this time, and I admire the brave souls that fought the good fight, but lost their battle.

Do you love dogs? Why or why not? Better than Peter loved the Lord and you can take that to the bank. Dogs make me a better person, not as great as they think I am, but I am better with a dog.

Is family important to you? Yes, but friends can also be “family”.

Have you lived outside the US? Did you enjoy it? Nope, always lived in the good ole U.S. of A. but I have visited the Benelux countries and loved them!

What is your favorite dish? Lasagna

What is the most important lesson you learned from your parents? That I have a right to make my own mistakes.

What would you like to accomplish within the next 3 years? Make Shoeful of Drool a household name. Okay, that’s a stretch, but a worthy goal.

Do you like to dance? I dance horribly! It’s even worse than my singing!

What qualities do you like on a person? Honesty and humor are the two biggies.

What annoys you the most?Rudeness and inconsideration for others.

Name one unselfish thing you’ve done for others.
i used to sometimes mow my next door neighbor’s lawn when she was out. She was an older lady and part of it was my random act of kindness for the day, but it was also fun to watch her wonder who mowed her lawn.

    1. Marcela says:

Lol. Loved your answers. Boy, you were a good but naughty girl:) Yes, the bravest people are those facing cancer. I lost my aunt Maria in 2007 and even today I’ll never understand how she went through that awful disease. I am glad your mom is fine:)

  5. I hate you didn’t have game shows as a kid. I loved Let’s Make a Deal with Monte Mall all of the silly costumes the contestants wore. I’m going to check out the blogs of your nominees. I do enjoy your blog very much.

    1. Marcela says:

Thanks a million. No, no game shows that I can recall. I was always into cartoons like Tom n Jerry, the 3 stooges, etc.
