Funny things dogs do.

Happy Holidays 2017

wp dec 22 2017

Abby, “Mom, you are doing it wrong!”

I can’t believe 2017 is almost over.  Time certainly flies and December is usually a blur.  Some of us, ok some of them, like Abby and Cynthia will be busy decorating.

wp dec 22 20172

Others will be traveling to spend these holidays with family.

wp dec 22 20173

Abby, “Moms, stop hugging me”.

We, like many others, will be spending our time with cute but ungrateful children like Abby.  Why ungrateful?  She wanted to pose for the picture without being hugged.

wp dec 22 20174

Abby, “Mom, hurry up!”

Some, those with adventurous souls, will be traveling with their furry kids.  Why not?  Let’s add a little more stress to the trip.  Isn’t that what makes life interesting?

wp dec 22 20175

Abby, “I am posing and looking straight at the camera. Do I get more treats than Champagne?”

Yes, then there are those that prefer to hang out with friends rather than family like our Abby.  But I can’t blame her.  Champagne is an amazing pit bull.  Regardless of how you plan to celebrate these holidays, enjoy yourself and the time you have with your loved us.  That time is priceless.

Decorating A Christmas Tree With Doggies

wp dec 12 2017

Abby, “Mom, listen to me, move it a bit higher”.

This year – for the very first time – we decided to include Abby and Champagne in the decoration of our Christmas tree.  Abby, as you can see, took the job of decorator very serious and was micromanaging Cynthia’s every move.

wp dec 12 20172

Champagne, “Excuse me, I need to see some ID”.

Champagne, the beautiful pit bull, was our security guard.  While on guard duty, she found an intruder.  Oh, never mind, that’s Abby.

wp dec 12 20173

Being on guard duty really got Champagne tired.  Not to worry, both Abby and Champagne were handsomely rewarded with treats for a hard day’s work.

wp dec 12 20174

Abby was exhausted too so it was lights out for her.

wp dec 12 20175

And this was the end result.  I’d venture to say that decorating with doggies was a good idea after all.  What will you be doing to include your doggies during these holidays?

Thanksgiving 2017

txsg nov 23 2017

And this is how we started our Thanksgiving day, with an uncooled turkey.  Cynthia started to cook right after breakfast.

txsg nov 23 20172

Abby, “Where’s the cooked turkey? I am already hungry”.

We, of course, explained to Abby that the turkey doesn’t magically turn up cooked, but as you can see in the above picture Abby wasn’t buying our story.  Let’s remember she just finished having breakfast.

txsg nov 23 20173

Once everything was cooked, we set up the table and showed it to Abby.  She was very happy, to say the least.  She got a nice helping of turkey, potatoes, and carrots.  It all worked out perfectly.

txsg nov 23 20174

Abby, “Mom, let me kiss you”.

Abby was beyond grateful for the food she inhaled.  Yes, inhaled.  We had a great Thanksgiving day, and at least for me, what I was the most grateful for was having Cynthia and Abby with me.  I hope you had a great Thanksgiving day

Holidays = Chaos?

wp nov 16 2017

I know, chaos may be an exaggeration, but for most people holidays tend to be pretty busy and somewhat stressful.  What I like about holidays, of course, happen to be the food “we” cook,  I am using we very loosely since Cynthia is the one that cooks, while Abby and I end up being the “critics”.  I know, what a hard life we have, but hey, someone’s got to do it.  Right?

wp nov 16 20172

Along with all the food we are planning to enjoy, comes plenty of relaxation and/or sleeping, which Champagne gladly demonstrates for us all the time.

wp nov 16 20173

Abby, “Mom, did you remember to pack my food?”

And then we have those that will be traveling to visit family.  That won’t be us this year, but for those that are traveling my suggestion would be: have patience; carry food and water; take your dog with you; and above all, enjoy your family.  What plans do you have for these upcoming holidays?

Veterans Day 2017

Whether you are going to explore new places like Abby…

Or making new friends, take a moment to remember this special day.  Thanks to all those who served and their families.

South End, Boston, MA (Woofstock)

woofstock1 2017

I thought I died and went to heaven when I saw so many dogs and their pet parents this past weekend in a fair appropriately named Woofstock.  To say that Abby and I loved it would be an understatement.

woofstock2 2017

A few dogs were ready for Halloween, and so they were socializing with others while showing off their costumes like this cutie pie.

woofstock3 2017

Whoever thought about putting this event together did a great job.  By the way, there was very little barking although there were lots of dogs so I’d venture to say that we all had a good time.

I had to take this picture.  When I was a kid, I used to see women carry their children like the above picture, but never a puppy.  So adorable.  Have a great week.

Abby Relaxing This Weekend

MA oct 7 20171

In the majority of pictures I post, you see Abby working, but does she ever take some time off?  Yes, she does and I have plenty of pictures to prove that.

MA oct 7 20172

See what I mean?  My girl works hard, but she also takes plenty of naps in her favorite bed.  Yes, she has a few beds.

MA oct 7 20173

Abby is relaxing this weekend and whenever she has friends over they follow her lead.  Of course, this is after we have taken a nice long walk.  Enjoy your weekend.

Walking With Abby

wp sept 2 20171

If there’s one thing Abby and I – Ok sometimes some of Abby’s friends as well – do is walk.  The above picture was taken in Plymouth, MA.  I go through shoes really fast, as you can imagine, but I enjoy walking with dogs.

wp sept 2 20172

Walking is a great exercise for you, pet parent, and your canine companion, therefore lace up your shoes and go for a nice long walk.  The above picture was taken in Provincetown, MA.  Yes, we take Abby everywhere we can with us.  Have a great week.

Abby in Salem, MA

salem12017

Since Nina, one of Abby’s friends, believes that there are ghosts in Stoughton, MA, Abby decided to take a trip to Salem, MA and see if she could find some witches.  You know what?  She did.  The statue behind us is that of Elizabeth Montgomery who played Samantha in Bewitched.  When I was a kid in Ecuador, I used to love that show.  And by the way, that’s the reason why I have a smile from ear to ear.  I got to “see” Samantha.

salem22017The day was gorgeous, sunny and warm, and so we walked and explored.  Aside from that, Abby got to work on behavior modification.  How?  By meeting people while being calm, and also seeing a few dogs and not pulling us to meet such dogs.  She is also getting used to walking amongst crowds of people.

salem32017Another thing I got Abby to experience was walking slowly on a bench.  What’s the big deal?  Well, this bench had a lot of space between boards and Abby had to learn to position her cute paws and walk on it without much hesitation or fear.  You see?  A nice outing while working on behavior modification.  That’s what I call a win-win for our pack.

Are There Ghosts In Stoughton, MA?

anna1

Abby, “I heard something, but I don’t see anybody around”. Nina, “I don’t like this”.

Nina, the cutie pie on the left, comes to hang out with Abby sometimes, and walks are always on Abby’s schedule.  Today we had some rain so we took a late morning walk.

anna2

Abby, “I told you I heard something. Could that be a ghost?”

I don’t know exactly what they heard, but they both turned their heads at the same time.  Let’s remember they can hear better than us, humans.  Our walk was an hour long and we all enjoyed it.

anna3

Nina, “I don’t know about you, but I am leaving. There may be ghosts around here.

Are there ghosts in Stoughton, MA?  I don’t know, but Nina certainly didn’t want to stick around to find out.  Smart girl.  I may need to have Abby’s ears checked by the vet since she didn’t even move.  What do you think?
