I can’t believe that Abby is already 10 years old. Abby came to be part of our family when she was only a few months old and as time went by I have noticed the following:
- The brown part, specially around her face, is starting to turn white. Doesn’t matter because she’s still so cute!
- Abby’s activity level is decreasing. We used to walk, many times, an hour in the morning and 45 minutes to an hour a day. Recently, after we’ve walked 50 minutes, she would stop and look at me. At the beginning I was a bit confused about it, but then I reminded myself that she is a senior dog so our walks are going to be structured differently keeping that in mind.
- For about a year, I’ve noticed that Abby seems to get cold and hot easier and faster than when she was younger so I do my best to make sure that she’s comfortable.
- Hearing and vision loss is debatable. Why? I think Abby has selective hearing and vision because she comes to me like lightning when I show her a treat, but if I don’t have a treat and I call her name I feel like I am talking to the wall because she does not respond.
Those are just a few changes Abby is exhibiting now . Living with a dog changes your life. It certainly changed mine, and just like we humans change and age, our dogs do so as well. By the way, living with a senior dog has its challenges, but by making some changes, you can enjoy your dog and your dog can continue to live a healthy and happy life. My Abby is one of a kind and I am grateful that she is part of our family. What changes have you noticed on your senior dog? Have a great week!

Abby is very cute. We’ve had some seniors dogs and I think they become so sweet when they get old. Their mobiloty goes down and they need you more, I think. An old will give you so much.
It does and we just got to figure out how to do other things with them bc our senior dogs have a lot of life in them. And yes, they are sweet!
