Summer 2024

on

It’s the start of summer and we, here in Annapolis, MD are certainly feeling it with temperature to reach 93 degrees by Saturday. And with that being said, these are a few things I do to keep my pack of doggies exercised and safe:

  • AM Walk – early in the morning. 10am is already late.
  • PM Walk – either early in the afternoon or late evening, of course, avoiding deserted areas to make sure that you and your doggies are safe. If it’s too hot, skip the pm walk.
  • Water – extremely important! Make sure you carry enough for you and your pack.
  • Shaded Areas – could make your walk more enjoyable.
  • Poop Bags and Miscellaneous Items – goes without saying, but I’ll say it anyway. Pick up after your dog. Baby wipes, treats, phone, etc.

Could you believe I said to skip a walk? Sometimes you have to if it’s unsafe to be outside. Use your best judgement and enjoy this warm, or should I say hot, weather. What changes do you make to your schedule during the summer? Take care.

  1. That is good advice. We bring with us water to drink and to wet the dog in places without hair or thin hair. We learned that wetting the dog where the hair is thick can be counter productive, because the wet hair sticks and makes a blanket.
