Confession Of A Dog Trainer: A Mischievous Dog

Charlie, “Is mom getting our food? Well?”

We have 3 dogs: Abby, Charlie and Zoe and each one has a particula personality, quirks, dislikes, etc. Now, if you think that because they live with a dog trainer, yours truly, they are almost perfect, well, let me tell that you are wrong. Did I just give you some hope by thinking, “I’m not alone.” I hope so.

These are the things that he is not doing well with right now, and these are the same things he was ok with in the past: walking, he is starting to get ahead of me; impatient to get out of the car, he’s supposed to sit before getting out; and selective hearing, he listens when and if he feels like it. Some pet parents don’t think that what I mentioned is a big deal, but for me they are. Why? Because there are two things I am always concerned about, and that is safety and peace of mind.

I’m going to look at Charlie from a dog trainer perspective and figure out what is going on with my boy. Is there anything that you’d like to change about your dog? If so, what are you going to do about it? Let me know.

I moved to a complex a year ago. No dogs allowed, I really miss having a dog as through the years I have had dogs with me for up to 17 years before their passing. With the last one I realized I should not have wasted my life with an office job I should have been a dog trainer.

This dog would watch my hands all the time and only reacted to hand signals, he did not always listen to voice commands. He was super intelligent and had too much energy 🙂

Wow! That’s wonderful. As time goes by, you are able to communicate with your dog without saying a word. When I want Abby, my 8 year old dog, to sit, I look at her tushy and she sits.
