The above picture was taken yesterday, 9/25/23, and because of Ophelia we will have a few more days of rain. Not crazy about that, but we were still able to walk.
One of the many things I have realized by having dogs is that you have to figure things out in order to make sure that you fulfill your dogs’ needs and exercise is a need. No, a Must if you want to keep your sanity.
So, how did I get to walk them when it was raining? I found a nice parking lot not far from where we live, and that’s where we go to walk, or we go to Home Depot, Lowe’s, Petco, etc.
How do you exercise your dogs when it’s raining or snowing? I am looking for ideas. Enjoy your walk and take a raincoat for you and your furry kid. Stay safe!

If it is raining I just walk in the rain. Me and the dogs don’t mind. Our problem is that sometimes it is too hot to exercise/walk your dogs even in the early morning (let say 109 degrees, 117 real feel). Our 15 year old pug Daisy does not need a lot of exercise and does not want a lot of exercise, but our mini-Australian Shepherd need a lot of exercise. What I do is that I just play a lot of ball with him and chase him around the house.
Your doggies are so lucky to have you as a pet parent. It’s wonderful what you do with them and great that you know which dog needs more exercise than the other one. Btw, Australian Shepherds, I used to board an Aussie years ago almost every month, and I realized they are very energetic. Love that breed. Keep up the amazing job you are doing with your dogs and thanks for your input.
Thank you so much for your kind words Marcela. Yes Australian Shepherds are energetic.
They really are, but I love that breed. They are so smart.
Yes you are right, anxious, energetic but very smart. Our Rollo figures out everything and seems to know all words.
I was madly in love with a client’s Aussie, Walter, and it’s been years since I’ve had another Aussie. As a dog trainer, this breed is perfect as a working dog.
Super smart dogs, but they need to have a job otherwise they will drive you crazy. I still miss Walter, my client’s Australian Shepard.
