Holidays = Chaos?

wp nov 16 2017

I know, chaos may be an exaggeration, but for most people holidays tend to be pretty busy and somewhat stressful.  What I like about holidays, of course, happen to be the food “we” cook,  I am using we very loosely since Cynthia is the one that cooks, while Abby and I end up being the “critics”.  I know, what a hard life we have, but hey, someone’s got to do it.  Right?

Along with all the food we are planning to enjoy, comes plenty of relaxation and/or sleeping, which Champagne gladly demonstrates for us all the time.

Abby, “Mom, did you remember to pack my food?”

And then we have those that will be traveling to visit family.  That won’t be us this year, but for those that are traveling my suggestion would be: have patience; carry food and water; take your dog with you; and above all, enjoy your family.  What plans do you have for these upcoming holidays?

Labor Day 2015

Roxy, a feisty Pomeranian

Most of us are looking forward to this holiday weekend, and some are already enjoying it.  Roxy is certainly not wasting any time at all.  I know napping will be one thing I will be doing this weekend.

Don’t feel like napping?  No problem.  Perhaps this weekend you will find fun and games to keep you occupied.  Gir is playing hide and seek.  He doesn’t seem to mind having his picture taken.

Ok, so perhaps napping and games are not your cup of tea.  If that is the case, I’d recommend you spend time with your canine companions at home.  They always seem to want to participate in activities such as: cooking, napping, eating, and of course, walking.  Regardless of what you decide to do this holiday weekend, try to include your furry kids in your festivities.  Enjoy your weekend.

Memorial Day 2014

Odenton, MD

Odenton, MD

When Alex, my 12-year-old pit mix, was not able to walk because of her ACL injury last November, I told myself, “I’ll walk by myself while I enjoy listening to some music for a change.”  Ha!  Do you know how many times I went out walking by myself?  Once.  Yes, once.  I hated it, and I was bored half to death.

What saved me from boredom were the doggies that came to stay with us while Alex was recuperating from her injury.  Nowadays, Alex is doing better and she is able to walk with us, but not for too long.  I still have to be careful with her.  On this holiday, just like any other day, please remember to walk your dog.

And, make sure you add a little extra food if your walks are longer than usual.  Have a great Memorial Day from my pack to yours!

See You Later Chrissy

chrissyThe adorable little dog right next to our cutie Alex is her cousin, Chrissy.  My cousin, Jessenia, and her husband were the proud parents of this beautiful girl and we were able to spend the past holidays with them.  What we did not know was that she had an advanced type of lymphoma.  She had surgery, but she passed away a few days later.

Will we miss her?  Yes, we’ll miss her very much, and like I said before I always cry for the dogs that die whether they have been with me for a short time or a long time.  My heart does not seem to understand the concept of time when it comes to dogs, therefore I will cry for that is what I truly feel.

I can only imagine what my cousin and her family are feeling and going through.  The best to all of them during this difficult time.  And for you pet parents, please give your furry children a big hug and kiss.

Happy Holidays – 2013

xmas2013On Christmas eve, it started to snow, but it stopped after about 1/2 hour and it melted as soon as it made contact with the ground.  Even like that, I was happy because I had Cynthia and Alex at home with me.

xmas20132On Christmas day, Chrissy, Alex’s cousin, arrived with family and spent a couple of days with us.  Alex, to my dismay, was pretty active during that time, but on the day they were due to go back home my girl slept most of the day.  I think she was exhausted.

xmas20133What did she do the next day?  Slept some more.  Happy Holidays to you and your family and may the new year bring health, peace, love, happiness, and prosperity.

Thanksgiving 2013

txs2013For some odd reason I keep typing 2014 rather than 2013.  Boy, talk about being ahead of time.  Anyway, I hope all of you had a great Thanksgiving along with your furry children and family.

txs20133One thing we always do during Thanksgiving is take a lot of pictures.  One year we failed to do so and the following year was not a very good one.  We took so many pictures and only one came out pretty good.  Most of them looked like the above photo.

txs20134After we finished our Thanksgiving dinner, we fed Alex a nice portion of turkey, Cynthia took the most inner part of the turkey that did not have any seasoning, and mixed it with her kibble, and you know what?  That girl inhaled her food.  By the way, do not feed your dog turkey, chicken, pork, etc., in large quantities.  The only reason Alex got a nice helping of turkey is because I mix her kibble with human food on a regular basis, lately 1/2 kibble 1/2 human food so she is used to it and I always make sure that there is no seasoning added to her food.  Alex, in the above picture, got inpatient and was leaving because Cynthia was taking too long to put the turkey away.

txs20135Of course she made a U-turn when she saw Cynthia getting ready to put away the turkey for she wanted to “help” her with this task.  What a helpful child.  Can you see how attentive she is?  We had a great Thanksgiving because we were all toghether and we hope all of you did the same.

Memorial Day 2013

Let me start by expressing my gratitude to all the men and women who died while serving in the United States Armed Forces and their families, but also to the active duty personnel that every day do their job, however hard it may be, to keep us safe and allow us to have the freedom we enjoy today.

This memorial day weekend we are home hanging out with Alex, our girl, Walter, and Gir.

memorialday20131

Walter, a handsome Aussie, looks like this every time we go for our midday outing, specially when the day is like today, sunny and warm.  Because Walter is dark with long hair, I make sure that we don’t stay too long out when the weather is warm or starting to get warm to make sure that he does not over heat.

memorialday20132

They, Walter, Alex, Gir, all decided that the best place to relax after our midday outing was the kitchen.  Walter is watching Cynthia cook.

memorialday20133

I told Cynthia, or she told me, I forget, that Walter loves to pose for pictures, as you can see here.  Look at those gorgeous brown eyes.  How can I not want to take a picture?

memorialday20134

Gir and Alex decided to enjoy their Nylabones.  Gir is only a little bigger than the Nylabone he was chewing on.

memorialday20135

Alex got tired of her Nylabone so she took a break, but Gir was still at it, while Walter, don’t you think he is posing?, was just chilling.  Have a great Memorial Day Weekend.
