Happy Holidays – 2013

xmas2013On Christmas eve, it started to snow, but it stopped after about 1/2 hour and it melted as soon as it made contact with the ground.  Even like that, I was happy because I had Cynthia and Alex at home with me.

xmas20132On Christmas day, Chrissy, Alex’s cousin, arrived with family and spent a couple of days with us.  Alex, to my dismay, was pretty active during that time, but on the day they were due to go back home my girl slept most of the day.  I think she was exhausted.

xmas20133What did she do the next day?  Slept some more.  Happy Holidays to you and your family and may the new year bring health, peace, love, happiness, and prosperity.

The 3 Musketeers On The Road To Michigan

Cynthia, Alex, and I haven’t been on a road trip for what feels like a long time, so we decided to take some time off and go to visit family in Michigan.

We left from Maryland around noon and unlike other times I was not stressed out for I told myself that this would be a trip that I’d truly enjoy with my 2 amazing girls.  Alex wore a seat belt made for dogs, not seen in this picture, since it is never a good idea to travel with a dog unrestrained.  Does she look tired?

Were you expecting to see picture of people?  I know, me too, but dogs are always much more interesting to me than any other being so with that in mind let me introduce to you Alex’s cousin, Hazel.  Hazel is a Shepherd mix of almost 3 years old.  She is very loving with people and dogs and she was madly in love with Alex.

Ok., now here’s the picture of our family.  Alex got tired of posing so she decided to leave.  I think we were a little too loud for her.  What a picky girl.  Hazel got scared of the camera and since we wanted a picture of all of us together we went outside to take another picture.  This time with Hazel in it, of course.

All right, now we are all together, except that Alex did not care to pose for this picture.  My daughter is a bit of a diva I guess.

It was fun visiting family and we hope to see them in the near future.  Oh, before I forget, Alex, my picky eater, decided not to eat any kibble and only had the chicken soup I took with us.  She lost some weight, but you know what?  The same night we got home she ate 1 cup of her kibble, yes, the same kibble she did not touch during our trip, and 1/2 cup of chicken soup.  Yes, she likes her routine along with her own bed and human food.  Oh my beautiful picky daughter.

The Aftermath of Introducing a New Dog to Our Pack

We got Walter, Alex, and Dexter, (from left to right), to pose while I held a treat and Cynthia took this picture

Walter and Dexter are getting along great.  The nice long walk I use to introduce a new dog to our pack is worth it, and I’d recommend it to any pet parent adding a new dog to her family.

They got tired of posing for Cynthia and decided that their time was better spent sleeping.

All my canine companions hanging out together in the dining room area.  Do you know what I still cannot figure out?  Why do they hang out around this area when they all have comfortable beds?  Go figure!

By the way, Walter is Alex’s new boyfriend.  Regardless of the breed of dog, making the right introduction is paramount if you want a peaceful home.  Have a great weekend and enjoy your furry kids.

Staycation With My Pack

Well, our staycation started on Tuesday of this week and will be ending today, Thursday, and I’ll be honest with you when I say that Alex really enjoyed and milked it for all it was worth.  We took very short walks since Alex is not allowed to walk very long, I did some reading and writing and enjoyed some naps here and there.  I can’t complain.

But then, I thought about it a little longer and I remembered that Alex was allowed to sleep on the couch while I watched a movie, treat in hand, of course because God forbid I forget her treat.  If I were to forget, she’ll look at me with those beautiful brown eyes until I get up to get it.  I do forget sometimes, but my daughter is quite good at reminding me about different things specially treats.  Alex was walked, brushed, wiped, and pampered.  Uh!  I think it was Alex’s staycation and not mine.

I think she knew what I was thinking and so she decided to make herself all angelic looking.  Did it work?  Yes, it always does.

My Original Pack

We’ve had different dogs for the past 5 weeks stay with us without a break, and during that time Alex had to share her two moms with all of them.  Something very funny, ok., I found it funny you probably will not, was that once Walter left, she right away came to me and looked at the couch.  Translation: “mom, can I sleep on the couch now that we have no dogs except for me?”  I told her that I’d pamper her in the evening because I had some work to do.  She went back to her bed not too happy, I might add.

Yes, you are probably thinking, “not fair.”  I told Alex that I’d spend more time with her the next couple of days that is just us, my original pack, and that she’ll get some extra treats.  I think that face says it all, don’t you?
